The Last Stone Age Tribe on Earth(North Sentinel Island)
The Last Stone Age Tribe on Earth
It is difficult to determine who the last
Stone Age tribe on Earth is, as there are still many isolated communities
around the world that maintain traditional ways of life and have limited contact
with the outside world. However, some of the communities often referred to as
the last remaining Stone Age tribes include the Sentinelese tribe.
Ssentinelese are an indigenous tribe living on North Sentinel Island, in the
Bay of Bengal. They are known to be hostile to outsiders and have actively
resisted attempts at contact by the Indian government.
North
Sentinel Island is a remote island located in the Bay of Bengal, part of the
Andaman and Nicobar Islands of India. It is famous for being the home of the
Sentinelese, one of the last uncontacted tribes in the world. The Sentinelese
are known to be hostile towards outsiders and have resisted all attempts by
Indian authorities and outside groups to make contact with them. Due to
their isolation and aggressive behavior towards outsiders, the Indian
government has established a 3-mile exclusion zone around the island to protect
the Sentinelese and any visitors from possible conflict. The island and its
people are protected under Indian law, prohibiting unauthorized contact with
the tribe. While it is tempting to learn more about this isolated culture, it is
essential to respect their right to privacy and not intrude on their way of
life. Attempts to contact or interfere with the Sentinelese could have
disastrous consequences for the tribe and those trying to contact them. Its area is 60 km2. This is one of the rare
places unknown to the rest of the world.
Estimates of their
population size vary widely, but it is believed that there may be anywhere from
100 to 500 individuals living on the island. However, without direct access to
the island and the ability to interact with the Sentinelese, it is difficult to
obtain an accurate count of their population.
The Sentinelese, the indigenous people of North Sentinel Island,
they may have some degree of immunity to diseases that are common in the
outside world. As they have been isolated from the rest of the world for
thousands of years, and have not been exposed to many of the diseases that have
spread through human populations.
However, it is important to note that just
because a population is isolated does not guarantee complete immunity to
diseases. In fact, when isolated populations come into contact with outsiders,
they can be vulnerable to diseases that they have no immunity to, and outbreaks
can be very devastating for both.
Due to the Sentinelese's
isolation and aggressive behavior towards outsiders, the Indian government has
established a 3-mile exclusion zone around the island to protect the tribe and
any visitors from possible conflict. The island and its people are also
protected under Indian law, which prohibits unauthorized contact with the
tribe. This helps to ensure the health and well-being of the Sentinelese by
preventing the introduction of outside diseases to their population.
In the 2004 tsunami, this person from the Sentinelese tribe was
photographed throwing arrows at a helicopter.
